"Sensor fusion" refers to predictive models' ability to integrate multiple,
disparate sensor measurements to in order to predict a process output.
Having an accurate model of process response is critical for control and
optimization.
Leak Detection:
When a process shifts significantly from its normal, modeled response, it
may indicate a leak or some other critical failure.
Sensor Fault Detection:
Predictive models can be used to assess a sensor's reading in the context of
incoming data upstream and downstream of the sensor. A fluttering
meter reading may indicate a process failure or simply that you need to
replace the meter.
